Chronicle 01: 29 lessons I’ve learned by 29.
It’s 2020. And it’s my 29th birthday. My last year in my 20s in 2020 - I love the irony of this. During this calm period, I’ve been pondering and reflecting on several takeaways and life lessons. So, now that I am officially 29 years old, I’d like to share 29 lessons I’ve learned over these 29 years of life.
Always show up unapologetically and authentically as your entire full self. Style. Personality. Energy. All of it.
Travel really is addicting, but it’s truly healthiest addiction you can have.
You can’t please everyone.
Recycle. Don't waste when you can avoid it.
Nothing like the peace of a clean house. You even sleep better. Oh, and cleaning is the best therapy ever, after music. Haha.
The one word I could never spell to this day: convenience (I used autocorrect).
You inspire people who pretend to not even see you! Trust me. They’re always those folks who consistently watch your stories but never like your posts. Ha. Make it worth their while. ;)
Always go with your first mind. Trust the vibes and trust your intuition.
Ain’t nothing badder than like a bad suit set, and Ankara fashion.
There is no feeling like the reward of a God-given view after a challenging hike. It’s always so worth it. Nothing like’s God’s nature and beauty.
Don’t ever, ever wait on anyone to take a trip or go where you want to go. Don't be afraid to travel alone. I wouldn’t have seen as much of the world as I have if I waited on others.
They’re always the people who do the work, and then others who talk about those actually doing the work. Periodt. Be the person who works more than they talk.
Your tolerance for alcohol and lack of sleep lowers as you get older, but more importantly, so does you tolerance for B.S.

Everyone is not going to like you. Everyone is not going to agree with you. You just got to be comfortable with that, and you’ll be good.
No matter how well you knew the words of a song heard endless times growing up, the song will always hit different when you understand the feelings behind the lyrics and meaning for yourself - those same words bring a new meaning years later as an adult.
Never settle for anything in life – friendships, career, relationships: “Keep your head, heels, and standards high.” Always.
Take your vitamins and try to eat three meals a day.
Life will sometimes present you with a shift in scenarios in ways you’ve never, ever envisioned or imagined. You just never know what God has in store. Sometimes no matter how much you plan, God has other plans. But it always works out for your good – even when you don’t see at the time, it always does later.
Cook for yourself once in a while, at least once a week.
You never know how much a simple smile, compliment, or slightest gesture can literally make someone’s entire day. Be nice to folks because you never know what they’re going through.

Use your voice. Be loud about things that are important to you.
Never tie yourself to a job or be loyal to a company – always put yourself when it comes to your career - they’ll find a replacement for the role, trust me.

Work hard for what you want in life and stay humble. It’s really that simple.
Don't ever expect from others what you're not willing to give or do yourself. To whom much is given, much is required.
Make sure you tell God thank you. And count your blessings.
